Other People's Capstones
Over break, I visited the University of Missouri School of Journalism to check out its convergence journalism program. "Convergence journalism" is the buzz word for all forms of media streaming together. For more than you want to know about this important trend in communication, go to USC Annenberg Online Journalism Review . More importantly, check out what students in the Missouri convergence journalism program are doing for their capstones. You might get some ideas! Whenever "strategic communication" is mentioned, that's means PR and advertising. Start with Projects/Teams: Spring 2009 Want more? Then click at the bottom for the previous semester. Good chance I can put you in touch with any Missouri students whose projects intrigue you. Your own electronic pen pals!
Write a winning resume
A resume (or c.v.or curriculum vitae) has one job to do: sell you to a prospective employer. Market yourself as you would market a product. Go to Rockport Institute and read all six parts, beginning with "Write a Resume That Generates Results." Then write one and email it to me. Deadline Thursday. After I receive it, we will set up a one-on-one session to see how your draft can be improved.
Off we go!
Welcome to Dr. J's Dream Jobs, a blog established to help students in the College of Communication and Media Sciences at Zayed University to find their dream jobs. I'll be posting regularly about resumes/cvs, internships, capstone projects and how to make them all work for you.
